What is the Canvas Course Evaluation Checklist?

Canvas provides users with an excellent resource known as the Course Evaluation Checklist. This checklist is organized by foundational, essential, best practice, and exemplary ratings that breakdown how to start designing your Canvas course and allows for continual growth as you progress through Canvas.

In addition to informational content about the Checklist, there is a link to create your own copy of the Checklist via Google Docs. We recommend that you make a copy and add it to your Google Drive at this time.

Using the Course Evaluation Checklist

In addition to the ratings of items in your course, the Canvas Course Evaluation Checklist is broken into four parts: Course Information, Course Content, Assessment of Student Learning, and Course Accessibility. Scroll through the Checklist below to identify the parts listed. Use the Checklist in each of these four areas as you are developing your course. If you are starting out in Canvas, focus on the Foundational and Essential items. As you embark on your Canvas journey, use the Checklist for growth opportunities.
